




























A research project that captures the essence of the narrow streets in old Ahmedabad The first heritage city of India, known as 'Pols' in the local language with means "pol" refers to a traditional, self-contained residential neighborhood or cluster, typically characterized by narrow lanes, closely packed houses, and a communal atmosphere. The word "pol" is derived from the Sanskrit word "pratoli," meaning "gate" or "entrance," reflecting the enclosed nature of these neighborhoods. The approach aims capture the lifestyle, old architecture, stories as well as the daily lives of the people living there, through documentary photography and interviews of the the people collected during the walks there. The research aimed to know, understand and celebrate the interesting lives in pols of Ahmedabad.
